Viva Mexico con Team Haro

Featuring Dennis Enarson, Tyler Fernengel, Mike Gray, Chad Kerley, Matthias Dandois. On arrival into Mexico we were surprised with a full schedule of 8 shop shops in 7 days. Finding spare time to actually ride our bikes became a challenge. Somehow with a crew like this, the good weather and amazing spots equaled quality footage and a video to add to the collection. Thank you to Xtreme Bike distribution for taking care of us. Video: Markit Zero

Markit is a crew of good friends who all love shredding bikes, filming clips, and going on trips together. Featuring the riding from Chad Kerley, Connor Lodes, Dennis Enarson, Mike Jonas, Geoff Slattery, Rob Wise, Ronnie Napolitan and Christian Rigal, Markit Zero is our first full length feature. Enjoy! Featuring: Chad Kerley, Connor Lodes, Ronnie Napolitan      More about Ronnie How’s life in 2014 so far? What’s new? Pretty good. Just been trying to stay warm and keep busy. Nothing too much is really new. Trying to get this job at a local coffee shop at the moment. I’m still riding every day and staying healthy. That’s basically all that’s new. Without dwelling too much on the negatives, tell us about parting ways with Haro. Basically they just didn’t want to re-sign me for this year. I was told one thing and, then instead, I was just dropped one day out of the blue. It’s all good, though. No hard feelings. It was time to move on. I see you’re riding a hot new Verde. How’s that treating you? Yeah! I’m riding the new Verde Oxbridge and it’s been amazing. I’ve been super stoked on riding lately. It’s cool for me because I’m able to ride what I really want to ride for the first time in around four years. The guys over at Verde are awesome. It’s a bike company ran by riders and they have such an awesome team. I like that their team is made up of all types of riders, not only street riders. I’m stoked to be on this beast supporting my boys Lima and Priest. Are you riding for Verde or is that just a homie hook up? No. I’m not riding for them. They were just nice enough to send me a frame and some shirts. I was looking for a new frame and have always wanted to ride a Verde, even back in the Levi’s days when I was filming a lot with Will Stroud (Verde Team Manager). I was going to get one after I parted ways with Mankind, but my Haro deal came along. This time I had to get one. I looked at some of the frames they make and the Oxbridge was the length and dimensions I like, so I jumped on it. Any other sponsor happenings to discuss? Nothing new going on for me. Still gonna continue to ride for Demolition, Markit, and Vans flow. I get hooked up by Oakley as well, but just flow as well. I’m really grateful for all of these companies’ support. Demolition and I are holding an Instagram contest right...

Schools Out – Miami’s In

These boys were right in my backyard and I missed it. Well now that school is out lets tear apart the streets of Miami…who’s coming with me?! Wish that I knew these dudes were in town, hope there a next time. They shredded all the spots I walk by nearly every day, and most importantly they had all total disregard to the guard in Brickell. Hahahah that was hysterical! Here is what we copied from the YouTube posting: Miami. What a crazy place. The entire Odyssey team spent a week in this outrageous palm tree and concrete jungle, and every day was a struggle. Tom Dugan, who’s back was already tweaked prior to the trip, had his bike stolen the first day. Jacob Cable fell deathly ill and was bedridden for most of the trip. Our Airbnb host tried to steal our bike rack, and our jet ski tour guide lost his shit when we were, according to him, being too reckless on the jet skis (he worries too much and also needs to chill). And we got kicked out of a lot of spots. And not just kicked out, but brutally screamed at and degraded, or even physically attacked. But the Odyssey team will not be stopped.   These guys rode as hard as they could every day, banded together against those trying to prevent us from doing our thing, and filmed a damn fine video, even in the face of so much adversity. Enjoy! Featuring Aaron Ross, Brandon Webster, Broc Raiford, Gary Young, Justin Spriet, Jacob Cable, Matt Nordstrom, and Travis...

Life and Times of Jose Junior Polanco

Life and Times of Jose Junior Polanco

Today we celebrate the birthday of Jose Junior Polanco. How quickly the years pass by yet it still feels like yesterday my brother and I were riding in the streets of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The year was 1988 and Danny Valentin was eager to introduce me to one of the best riders on the island. Danny kept spreading the word that Junior Polanco was by far the best rider on the island and that nobody could match his skills.  That year a contest was held at the “Cristo” spot and sure enough Junior Polanco alongside with Luis Lamarche and Robert Victoria crushed it on Flatland. Their smooth riding styles reflected many learned lessons from 101 Freestyle Tricks video which they studied daily. Inspired by Martin Aparijo, Dennis McCoy and all the big name riders featured in that video, Junior Polanco demonstrated that he too could ride like the American Pro’s. However what defined Junior Polanco was not his ability to learn the tricks shown on the videos but to build from it into a style of its own. After winning that contest and several other local competitions he went off to take on a bigger challenge, to be the King of New York. Competing against riders like Adam Guild, Jim Dellavalle, Mike Wilson, Rodney Morweiser and John Silvestri to name a few was no joke. The Mullaly Skate park crew U.N.D. (Underground Never Dies) led by Luis Perez and Robert Ramos took a liking to Junior Polanco and indoctrinated Junior Polanco into the crew. Jim Dellavalle even drove in the rain with music blasting to JFK Airport in New York City to pick up the newest member of the family. Junior Polanco spent the majority of that first arrival at The Limelight nightclub as he waited for the U.N.D. busrats to finish their shift at 5am so that he could chill with the boys. 1994 was a fun year, and Junior Polanco lives to tell the tale much better than this short blog. A trip to Norway somehow ensued…good times!  Well Junior took the title of The King Of New York on Flatland that year and the next! He competed against local, national and international riders alike, ultimately earning the respect of the famed Chase Gouin of the Plywood Hoods. Folks I am jumping around in some timeline here but let me just say this…Junior Polanco is by far the most talented rider that I have ever had the honor of riding with! Today he turned 40 something…never really keep track of age…and to celebrate his birthday I have decided to share this moment onto the Flow Zine pages...
